The UAE has significantly expanded its capabilities in space technology with the launch of three new Earth observation satellites, marking a major upgrade to UAE space intelligence network. The new satellites enhance real-time monitoring and strengthen the nation’s ability to collect high-resolution geospatial data across the globe.
Space42 confirmed that Foresight-3, Foresight-4 and Foresight-5 are now fully operational, increasing its Earth Observation constellation to five Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites. The expansion is designed to deliver advanced intelligence to governments, industries and international partners with greater speed and accuracy.
Launched in November 2025, the satellites have successfully completed commissioning and testing phases before entering full operation. Their integration improves revisit rates, expands geographic coverage and ensures continuous data collection regardless of weather conditions or time of day.
How the UAE Space Intelligence Network Works
The upgraded system plays a key role in strengthening the UAE space intelligence network, particularly through improved surveillance and analytics across regions where the majority of the global population is located. Operating in mid-inclined Low Earth Orbit, the satellites provide wider coverage and more frequent imaging capability.
The project was developed in partnership with Finland-based ICEYE, supporting the UAE’s broader goal of building sovereign space capabilities while benefiting from global expertise. Integration and testing were completed at Space42’s Abu Dhabi facility, highlighting continued investment in domestic aerospace infrastructure.
According to Space42, the expanded constellation enhances national Earth observation capacity while improving competitiveness in the global geospatial intelligence market. The system is part of a wider strategy to position the UAE as a leader in AI-driven space services.
Impact of the UAE Space Intelligence Network on Global Operations
The satellites feed data into Space42’s AI-powered platform, GIQ, which converts raw satellite imagery into actionable intelligence within minutes. This allows faster decision-making across sectors such as disaster response, infrastructure planning, environmental monitoring and security operations.
Each satellite is capable of capturing imagery with a resolution of up to 25 centimetres and can operate through clouds and adverse weather conditions. This ensures reliable data collection in critical situations where visibility is limited.
Officials say the AI-driven system can reduce emergency response times by up to 90 per cent, lower maintenance costs by around 30 per cent and improve operational efficiency by up to 25 per cent across key industries.
The announcement comes amid rising global demand for Earth observation services, with governments and businesses increasingly relying on satellite intelligence for risk management, sustainability planning and operational efficiency.
Under the UAE’s National Space Strategy 2030, continued investment in space infrastructure and artificial intelligence remains a national priority. The expansion of the Foresight constellation further strengthens the UAE space intelligence network and supports the country’s long-term ambition to become a global hub for advanced space-based data services.
