When BLACKPINK’s Lisa stepped onto the 2026 Met Gala red carpet at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4, the internet had a full-on moment. Dressed in a fully crystallized ivory gown by Hong Kong-born couturier Robert Wun, she did not just dress for the theme, “Costume Art.” She became the theme.
The Gown That Took Nearly 3,000 Hours to Make
The look, titled “The Veil,” features a fully crystallized embroidery sheer gown in a mermaid silhouette with a short train, plus a matching sheer veil that drapes the torso and cascades behind it. The concept: “the bride lifting up her own veil,” except in this version, the bride has help from herself. Two 3D-printed sculptural arms jut from the gown and rise above Lisa’s head, holding up the veil. Those arms are not decorative fiction. Robert Wun’s team 3D-scanned Lisa’s actual arms to replicate them as sculptural extensions of the look.
The additional appendages are arranged in poses inspired by traditional Thai dance positions, a subtle nod to Lisa’s heritage. The detail makes the look personal in a way that goes far past aesthetics.
The entire look is covered in 66,960 white Swarovski crystal embroidery, totaling 2,860 hours of handwork. The dress also carries a tag inside that reads, in cursive, “for Lisa.”
Who Is Robert Wun, and Why This Look Matters
Robert Wun is a London-based label founded in 2014 by its Hong Kong-born designer. He launched with a focus on custom-order collections, and became the first designer from Hong Kong to join the Haute Couture Calendar as a guest member of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. He won the ANDAM Prix Spécial in 2022, along with a $100,000 prize.
At the 2026 Met Gala, Wun dressed a total of eight guests, including Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Naomi Osaka, and Lisa. He described Lisa’s look as “something truly special,” and explained his approach: “When I propose a design for a moment worth fighting for, especially on the carpet, I would try to propose something that maybe the artist has never tried before, or not usually a direction they would be willing to explore. I was very pleasantly surprised when they actually confirmed to go ahead with that look.”
Lisa was the only BLACKPINK member at this year’s gala who did not wear a look from any of her brand endorsements.
The Jewelry and the Final Look
Lisa paired the Robert Wun gown with High Jewelry pieces from Bulgari: a sapphire necklace from the Eclettica collection and high jewelry earrings featuring two pear-cut sapphires. Styling was handled by Brett Alan Nelson, with the full Vogue Final Fitting video filmed at The Mark Hotel in New York.
Lisa at the 2026 Met Gala
Lisa served as a member of the 2026 Met Gala host committee. All four BLACKPINK members, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé, attended this year’s gala together, marking the first time all four have appeared at the event simultaneously.
The Met Gala 2026 theme was “Costume Art,” hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4, 2026.
The Takeaway
Nearly 3,000 hours of handwork. A concept rooted in Lisa’s own cultural identity. A personal tag sewn into the collar. And an independent couturier who got one of the biggest fashion moments of the year. Lisa’s Robert Wun look at the 2026 Met Gala is the kind of fashion moment that gets studied, pinned, and referenced for a long time. It earned it.
